Myrtusworkshop is a project that unites my love for embroidery and keeping the family tradition of taking photos and making albums. It took a long time before I came to a certain understanding of how an album should look, applying different methods of bookbinding and types of embroidery. Finally, I got an idea that every album should have a conception, a variety of elements, materials, and techniques, always connected by a certain mood.
The story began in 2012 when I made the first album of this kind for my purpose since then there are about one hundred albums made. There appeared so many people who loved my handwork and I had a decision to create a very special series of keepsake photo albums decorated with hand embroidery. That was a nice idea! I learned a lot concerning traditional techniques and tools used for embroidery as a medium of art and craft and understood that I need to learn a million times more. I Like to apply different kinds of stitching, first all because it is my way of telling the story, it gives the chance to express, reveal many unspoken things. I like it when something is unnoticeable, hidden behind.
